Why does everyone wear skater shoes?

Why do people wear skater shoes like dcs and vans, and those ugly converse shoes that go up your shins?





Almost everyone wears skater shoes besides my friends (they wear sports and athletics) and people wear these skate shoes when they don't even skateboard?





How do people get sucked in the media and wear the most expensive and keep changing their fashion. Why is this???

Why does everyone wear skater shoes?
I wear them because the comfortable and have better grip (I skateboard). Teen girls wear them becase they think it makes them look cool but it just makes them look like POSERS!

Reply:Convers are awesome shoes, no matter what style,., they were first worn as basket ball shoes and it's just know that people made them punky

Vans are great shoes if you like to skate board..


every one has there own style..

Reply:You know that converse aren't even "skater" shoes. They were originally basketball shoes. People (me included) wear them because most of the time they like how they look and aren't just trying to be some mindless drone who wants to "fit in." If you think they are so ugly, fine don't wear them.





As for the question about the media...well its the media. They feed on the people who will easily follow whats "cool" for the sake of "fashion."
Reply:Its fashionable, trendy, its comfortable, stocked up in teenager stores, and yeah its a fad. Like the (forgot name) but comes from bronx old fashion basketball shoes. Its all over Taiwan in the cities. Very fashionable.

people wear them because they r in fashion. it is the normal thing to conform to those around you ;]

my daughters boyfriend, who i dislike, wears those.. i think.


its just a trend.


my daughter likes "skater boys" so she wants to impress them too, so she asks me over and over for those piece of scat shoes.


if you was to light your money on fire and but those stupid unfashionable shoes, be my guest.


but, to answer this question, its a stupif popularity contest.


they are not too comfy looking, and the tongues on the shoes are too puffy and big.

Reply:Some people may just do it to fit in but I think most people who wear them just like them. Everyone has an individual style that is different from others so just because you don't like them doesn't mean someone else can't- it all depends on the person's opinion. I don't wear them but I think they're cute and I don't think there is a right or wrong when it comes to your clothes because everyone has a unique taste and I think it is all about their preferences. I hope this answers your question! =)
Reply:Because they're comfy. Why does it matter anyways? With every thing that's going on in the world, criticizing other people's styles should be the least of your worries. Complaining about somebody else's style is a waste of time. It's the same as trying to tell you how to dress.
Reply:Ok, why is everyone saying that people that wear skater shoes are posers? They aren't. Why did they make skaters shoes in the first place? Skaters. So clearly they have a reason. I wear them And I skate. Etnies rule. People who hang out with skaters sometimes wear them, too. NOt alot of people wear them at my schoo, so it's not a trend. I think they're cute and comfortable. And don't judge a person by there shoes people. gosh.

Reply:first of all, do not insult the chucks, those shoes are classics. and the only reason everyone wears skate shoes is because either they're posers or those sports shoes are just too ugly.

Reply:i LOVE my converse. been through everything with me. by the way, converse are not skater shoes. if you want a history lesson, they were the first basketball shoes ever made. and i have never worn a pair of vans because they never have my size, color, and style that i want. good night/morning.
