I bought some shoes for my daughter to play soccer, but someone told me they are actually baseball cleats. Can she wear these for soccer, too, or does she need different shoes?
She's only 6 years old so I'd like to avoid spending the money for another pair, but I'm willing to do so if these would cause her to hurt her ankles or have any other problems playing soccer.
Are baseball cleats and soccer cleats the same thing, or do I need different shoes for each sport?
if she is then they will be fine, i ref and we really don't worry about that till 8 and even then we just acknowledge the problem and make sure they are wearing the right shoes by 9 or 10, we don't even encourage the parents to go out and buy them at 6 cause you don't know how long she will be playing soccer. :)
Reply:Regular Baseball cleats usually have a stud in the very front. If they do not have this stud then they are ok for soccer. If they do you can remove the stud (cut it off) and then use them for soccer. In my experience growing up soccer cleats can go both ways but baseball cleats are better to be used just for baseball as they are less formed to your foot for controlling the ball. Being that your daughter is 6 i do not see this being a problem. Good Luck to you.
Reply:yes they are different. Also American foodtball cleats are different. You need to buy the proper shoes for soccer. Next time ask one of the clerks. Just let me put it this way, soccer has a different shoes to practice this sport.
Reply:Yes, there is a difference unfortunately. I discovered this through many searches when I was trying to find a pair for my husband to play softball in.
Reply:You should have the proper shoe for that sport. When it comes to shoes, it's all about the spike configuration on the bottom.
Reply:Baseball cleats have a cleat on the front toe that are illeagal in soccer, but i belive soccer cleats ate legal in baseball.
Reply:baseball cleats have a cleat in the very front, soccer ones dont
