Whats the best way to clean suede shoes can you put them in the washing machine or is there something to buy?

I have a pair of black suede pumas that got a little dirty and I want to clean them. Whats the best way to do it? will they get ruined if I throw them in the washing machine or is there some sort of liquid or spray I can buy at a shoe store or sports store that will clean them?

You should never get suede completely wet as it will get ruined.

Even with the protective coatings they are given, they can only

take so much moisture.

You need to buy a commercial suede shoe cleaner and stiff

combo wire/bristle brush. Follow the directions for the cleaner

and the brush is used to get the soil out of the fabric(suede).

After that you need to get a spray-on suede protector to keep them looking sharp.
Reply:Yes you'll ruin them that way.

Buy something called a Nubuck block. It looks like a rubber eraser only larger, that will make them looks good as new. Then buy spray protector that is safe for suede and spray for a better result in the future.
Reply:Good Lord, no - don't put them in the washer! You may be able to remove the surface dirt and dust with a stiff-bristled brush or even an old toothbrush.

There are products to clean suede shoes. Check the shoe polish display in your supermarket or drugstore. A shoe store is sure to carry such a product, as well.

You can always take them to a shoe repair shop for a professional cleaning, especially if they are new and in good shape except for the dirt.
Reply:If you have to "spot" clean them, clean the spot and then let it dry. Then to get them looking nice again, use a suede brush on them. To protect them better, after cleaning and brushing, spray on a waterproof solution you can buy at most shoe stores, then let them dry completely before wearing. If you live in an area that gets rain alot, do a second coat after the first one is completely dry. If they get mud on them, let it dry and then brush with the suede brush. ( A stiff bristled brush will do, like a dog brush.)
Reply:use a "saddle soap" on the suede. rub in and wipe off, simple. i suggest spraying the suede with a waterproofer after u clean them.Do not wash in machine, the color may run.
Reply:Shaving cream
Reply:If you're trying to clean the white strip, use a clorox bleach pen, it works great %26amp; makes it look like new.

Use a sude brush on the rest, thye work pretty well on them.
